Privacy Policy for Smart Copy: Web Tables to Excel

Smart Copy: Web Tables to Excel is a Chrome extension that helps users copy and export HTML tables from web pages into XLSX, CSV, TSV, Markdown, or JSON formats.

Data collection

Smart Copy does not sell, rent, or share user data for advertising purposes.

Local processing

The extension reads table content from the currently active web page only after the user opens the extension or clicks a Smart Copy button. Table data is processed locally in the user's browser to generate exports.

Table export data is not uploaded to external servers.

Local storage

Smart Copy may store user preferences locally in the browser using chrome.storage.local. This may include selected tables, cleanup settings, column settings, and page-specific preferences. This data stays on the user's device.

Clipboard and downloads

The extension may copy selected table data to the user's clipboard when the user chooses a copy action. The extension may also generate and download export files when the user chooses a download action.

Feedback form

If the user chooses to submit feedback through the extension, the feedback message and basic technical context may be sent to a third-party form service in order to deliver the message to the developer.

This may include:

• feedback message
• current page URL
• current page title
• extension version
• browser user agent

Feedback is submitted only after the user clicks the Send button. Table data is not automatically included in feedback submissions.

Third-party services

Smart Copy may use a third-party form service only for optional feedback submissions. The extension does not use third-party services for table export processing.

Permissions

• activeTab: used to access the current active page after user action.
• scripting: used to inject the extension's local content script that detects and reads HTML tables on the current page.
• clipboardWrite: used to copy exported table data to the user's clipboard.
• downloads: used to save generated export files to the user's device.
• storage: used to remember user preferences locally in the browser.
• host permissions: used only to send optional feedback form submissions after the user clicks Send.
